Who is Alesco
- Alesco is an Education Consultancy based in Portugal working with families who are relocating or searching for new educational prospects to help them to identify and access the ideal school for their child’s happiness and educational success.
Our Background
Founder and Lead Consultant, Naomi Crompton (MSc Developmental Psychology) is a former teacher and nanny who understands first-hand the importance of a child’s wellbeing to their success, and how this directly links to their daily experiences at school.
Naomi gained her expertise in various education systems from over 15 years’ experience working in liaison with some of the most exclusive schools and preschools around the world, including in Paris, London, Moscow, Munich and Beijing. She brings that knowledge to Alesco along with a child centred vision of personalised education services which cater to each client’s diverse educational requirements.
After moving to Portugal and witnessing the huge number of families who were unaware of the variety of educational options available to them, or were stressed and confused trying to research multiple education systems of which they had no prior knowledge, Naomi founded Alesco in 2021 with the vision of sharing her expertise with families and training a team of qualified consultants to provide trustworthy and approachable support to the Portuguese educational landscape.

Portuguese Public School Specialist (Silver Coast Area)
Inês is a seasoned educator with a rich background in Portuguese and English Literature. With over two decades of experience in public educational institutions, she firmly believes in the transformative power of education. Inês is dedicated to empowering children by providing them with the foundational tools they need to realise their aspirations. Her expertise lies in navigating the intricacies of the Portuguese public school system, particularly in the picturesque Silver Coast area, and teaching the Portuguese Language.
Joana Alves da Cunha
Pre-school and Alternative Education Specialist (Porto and Northern Portugal)
Joana is a dynamic researcher and context trainer with a strong focus on the pre-school years and alternative education. Specialised in the Montessori method and Positive Discipline, she is deeply committed to providing a safe and stimulating learning environment for children. Joana serves as a bridge builder, fostering collaboration between different educational concepts to ensure each child reaches their full potential. Her passion lies in nurturing young minds and fostering a love for learning in Northern Portugal.
Tatiana Gilliam
Homeschool Education Specialist
Tatiana is an education advocate and community builder, who journeyed from Austin, Texas, to Lisbon, Portugal, fostering transformative learning experiences and supporting over 8500 families across two continents. She has homeschooled all ages provided college counseling to homeschoolers regarding admission in EU Universities. Her approach emphasizes curiosity-driven exploration and remote schooling’s benefits while remaining oriented on the child’s educational goals.
Tom Rains
International School Specialist Consultant
With 30 years of teaching experience, including 23 years in international schools across Argentina and Portugal, Tom brings extensive expertise in education. Having held middle and senior leadership positions for 27 years, including the role of Deputy Secondary Principal overseeing Key Stage 3 at one of the top international schools in Lisbon, with a focus on student transitions and safeguarding. His experience includes working closely with families relocating to Portugal, managing admissions, and liaising with various international schools in Lisbon. Tom is dedicated to providing professional, impartial guidance, recognising the importance of individualised educational opportunities for each child.
Josefine Gombert
SEN Specialist Consultant
Josefine, as our SEN Specialist Consultant, brings her extensive experience in Special Educational Needs (SEN) teaching, both in Portugal and internationally, to the Alesco team. Her role is vital in ensuring that families receive expert guidance on navigating the SEN support available within Portuguese international schools and other educational institutions.
Anisa Subekti
Social Media and Design Coordinator
Anisa brings a wealth of experience in social media management, having successfully overseen accounts ranging from 9,000 to 60,000 followers. She discovered her love for photography and videography during her cycling adventures through South America and southern Africa, before her relocation to Portugal. With a natural flair for storytelling and a keen eye for detail, Anisa enriches Alesco with her talent for crafting visually captivating narratives. Her passion for design and dedication to creating compelling content contribute to our mission of providing informative and engaging educational resources.
